Hackworth Electric Motors, Inc. was started by the purchase of a small shop that serviced the oil-field industry by installing motors, telephone poles and running wire to run pump jacks to produce oil. By selling and installing so many motors for the oil industry, Jerry Hackworth realized that the company needed to repair them as well. At this time Jerry Hackworth already had nine years of motor repair and rewind experience. Jeff and Jerry's father, Jerry Hackworth, Sr., also helped the company by working part-time and then full-time after retirement. James Hackworth, the oldest brother, joined the company a few years later with many years of experience with the Navy. As years went on Hackworth Electric Motors, Inc. opened a satellite location in Medina, Ohio. In 1998 Jeff and his wife, Brenda K., purchased the business from Jerry Hackworth.
Hackworth Electric Motors, Inc. has over 100 years of combined experience, along with a fleet of trucks used for service calls, pick-ups and deliveries all over Ohio. In 2008 the Medina location was consolidated into one location in Wooster. Hackworth Electric Motors, Inc. has had the privilege to work with many great people in Northern Ohio through the companies that are serviced and by individuals when they need their furnace motor, water pump, bathroom fan, aerator, etc. repaired.

Hackworth Electric Motors opens and incorporates in 1977. Jerry R. Hackworth started the business with one truck and a few pieces of equipment. Jeff Hackworth was the first employee while attending Wooster High School and the Wayne County Career Center.
1st Building Expansion project – Doubles facility by adding 2,500 sq/ft to existing 1,800 sq ft building.
After growing larger than expected, there was a definite need for a building addition. Ground is broken for the 1st addition onto the business. Within this growing time, Brother, James (Jim) Hackworth, start working within the family business.
2nd location of business
Opportunity to reach another location started into Medina, OH.
2nd Building Expansion project – Doubles building size again - Adds 4,150 sq ft
Jeff Hackworth, first employee, and wife Brenda K, purchase Hackworth Electric motors
Consolidated both locations to Wooster, OH
Jeff’s two sons, Andrew and Austin, come to work full-time.
Having outgrown both facilities and property of the Cleveland Rd. location after 47 years business, Hackworth Electric Motors will soon relocate to 550 E. Henry St, Wooster Ohio. This triples Hackworth’s footprint to 26,500 sq/ft and lifting capacity from 15,000 lbs to 40,000 lbs.
